Vionnet – Spring 2013

Vionnet is a French Haute Couture brand established in 1912 by Madeleine Vionnet in Paris, relaunched in 2006 after being closed for almost 5 decades, period which started during WW2. After appointment of new creative directors (currently Barbara and Lucia Croce) and the start of regular participations in the shows calendar of Paris, 2009 saw Vionnet being subject of a major retrospective exhibition at the renowned Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The brand’s founder is considered to be the inventor of the bias cut, techniquewhich provides greater drapeability and flexibility to fabrics.

Notwithstanding our highest interest in clothing, it was indeed the jewellery pieces from Vionnet’s Spring 2013 collection that drew us in. We enjoyed the loops and bows that shape a ring and a necklace in a very feminine and elegant way. A matter of taste some would say. Shown below.
